Language and Reading-

Last quarter many students were disappointed in their reading grade.  The monthly reading calendar is due the 5th of each month and is worth 100 points.  A big portion of the points for the reading grade is accredited to the monthly reading calendar.  As long as the students have their parents signature on the reading calendar and is turned in on or before the due date the students receive the full credit.  The reading calendar allows me to know how much the parents are helping their students at home.  So even if the student didn’t read 25min. or more each night please still have your students turn in the calendar with a parent signature to receive credit.

Math- Fractions, fractions, fractions! We are learning equivalent fractions, mixed number, improper, how to line fractions onto a decimal and etc.  It is a long unit and I have broken fractions into two different final tests.  It has been an enjoyable and exciting chapter!

Science- We are starting electricity instead this week.  On Tuesday a gentlemen from Rocky Mountain Power is coming to do a presentation.

WRITING- We will continue to practice the steps of the writing process.  And be doing a lot of practice
on utahwrite.com. If your student would like to practice writing at home please visit utahwrite.com.  I have not yet received the date of when this test is going to be administered but I do know somewhere around the end of February or beginning of March.   The students are getting exhausted from all of the writing however, each student has made big stride in improving their writing abilities.  It has been exhilarating to watch their growth.
