Math- We are focusing on measurement, perimeter, and area. We are also discussing units of measurement and learning elements of the metric system.
Science- If your student is able please donate two DD batteries it would be greatly appreciated. The batteries will contribute to our electricity and magnetism unit. The science fair is on March 24th. I am not requiring students to participate in the science fair however, I am strongly encouraging them to do so I will be available to help any students who would like my help after school. Science fair forms are due THIS Friday March 18th.
WRITING- I am so proud of how well all the students did on the Utah Writes tests. After taking the test we were able to focus on writing poetry and free writing.
Language and Reading-
dictionaries and learning new vocabulary by using surrounding text to decipher the word. There is a
district spelling bee that East 4th and 5th Graders will be competing in. I have sent home a list of words a week ago however, if you have misplaced them feel free to visit www.scripps.com
Message from Mrs. Smith
Thank you for all your support during S.E.P week. Also, if you didn’t get the opportunity to fill out the parent survey you can do so online. There is a link from East Elementary homepage to the parent survey form. On March 25th we get the opportunity to attend a play at Utah Shakespeare Festival Play, “Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat.” Each student needs to bring a $1.00 to attend the production if this is not possible due to financial stress please let me know.
